  • Re-opening: What to Know

  • On May 1, the Georgia Governor and Department of Public Health established guidelines for responsibly opening the State. Some Helen, Cleveland and Sautee Nacoochee businesses have taken the opportunity to open and are working within those guidelines to ensure the safety of their employees and visitors. Additionally, these businesses have prepared for the return of visitors by implementing safety precautions to ensure the safety of residents, visitors and employees. We trust that as you begin to make plans to travel that you will exercise the best judgment for the safety of your family.  When you are ready, we will be ready, too.

    • Unicoi State Park, Smithgall Woods State Park, The Hardman Farm Trail and Yonah Preserve Trails are open with restrictions. Please plan and be prepared as restrooms, Visitor Centers and Museums are closed.  View Openings
    • Wineries, Craft Brewery, and Tasting Rooms are open View Openings
    • If there are no further changes to the Governor's Executive Orders, area attractions will reopen June 1. We anxiously await the re-opening of  Helen WaterPark, Georgia Mountain Coaster, and Nacoochee Adventure. Please Check back for updates as this is possible.
    • Tubing is opening Memorial Day Weekend - Cool River Tubing opens May 22 and Helen Tubing opens May 23. 
    • Good News!  Parts of the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest reopen May 22.  This impacts many of our favorite trails and access to waterfalls.  Please check here for updates.

  • To ensure your health and well-being while traveling please follow some common-sense practices from the CDC. Please be prepared that some businesses will have varying guidelines for entry.  This is for your safety and the safety of others as they carefully adhere to the Georgia Governor's guidelines.

    Healthy Travel Information

    • Do not travel if you or any of your party are ill.  Please rest and recover.  We will be here later when you can fully enjoy your visit.
    • Thank you for your patience and cooperation as business carefully reopen under new guidelines.  You may find some wait times as businesses adapt to occupancy restrictions, curb-side and delivery, or sanitization efforts.  All of this is for your safety and the safety of employees and residents. 
    • Avoid close contact with others.  Maintain at least 6' of physical distance from others.
    • Be Prepared with your own Personal Protection Equipment.  Masks, hand sanitizers, and wipes may not be readily available.
    • Wash hands often with soap and water.  If soap and water are not available, be prepared with hand sanitizer of at least 60% alcohol.
    • Cough into your elbow and sneeze into a tissue
    • Avoid contact with people who are already sick
    • Avoid contact with animals while traveling
    • Clean frequently touched objects and surfaces
    • Be aware of the latest travel advisories from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and U.S. State Department here
