Collectible Christmas tree ornaments depicting historic sites in White County are available for sale from the Chamber of Commerce from now until January 3. These unique, one of a kind ornaments are popular with locals and visitors to give or collect.
The 2019 ornament, which is the eighth in a series, is of Alpine Village of Helen's 50th Anniversary. Georgia's third most visited city, Helen, Celebrates the 50th anniversary of its renaissance as the Alpine Village. John Kolloc, a local artist had spent a bit of time in Vavaria, with local leaders set out to re-invent Helen with gingerbread trimmed storefronts, spiral towers of old-world charm and cobblestone alleyways. Today, the village still evokes the look of the Alps in Appalachians.
The image of the Alpine Village is in full color and the porcelain ornament is trimmed in 22 carat gold. It is made by Gateway China Co., and holds a brief history of the bridge on the back side.
These collectible White County ornaments are limited.
Ornaments from previous years are also available. These include Hardman Farm, Crescent Hill Baptist Church, Nora Mill, The Indian Mound and other historic sights in White County.
