Health Care

White County medical professionals continually strive to provide the latest and best healthcare services available. White County offers the new enhanced 911 service, for immediate response by law enforcement, fire department and emergency medical services in an emergency anywhere in the county.

Northeast Georgia Medical Center oversees the Neighborhood Healthcare Center, providing care from check-ups to treatment of minor emergencies. The Center is staffed with family physicians, nurse practitioners and other healthcare providers.

Another local healthcare provider is the White County Health Department, which offers immunizations and other healthcare services.

For more comprehensive services, two primary care facilities are located in Gainesville, just 25 miles away. Offering the latest in medical advancements, Northeast Georgia Medical Center and Lanier Park Hospital can treat almost any type of medical emergency.  Habersham County Medical Center is also located in nearby Demorest.

Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NEGMC) has continued to grow over the past 25 years, keeping up with the latest medical advances and healthcare needs of the region. The Medical Center provides 338 beds and over 190 qualified physicians to care for patients and all their specialized needs.

NEGMC provides excellent healthcare in five general areas: medicine, surgery, OB-GYN, pediatrics, and mental health. In addition, the Medical Center also offers 27 areas of specialization ranging from Cardiac Catheterization to Neonatal Intensive Care.

Recognized as one of the state’s leading community hospitals, Lanier Park Hospital is a 124-bed acute-care medical and surgical facility with a 10-bed ICU/CCU and a 24-hour Emergency Center.

Due to its small size, Lanier Park Hospital is able to provide a pleasant, friendly, and attentive atmosphere for both its patients and their families while offering services typically available at major metropolitan hospitals. Areas of treatment include state-of-the-art radiology and imaging units, nuclear medicine laboratory, non-invasive vascular laboratory, and cardiac catheterization laboratory.

Conveniently located in Demorest, Georgia, on Historic Highway 441, Habersham County Medical Center's (HCMC) mission is to provide high quality care in a compassionate, professional, and economical manner to all persons in Habersham County and adjacent areas, including the friends and neighbors that live in bordering White County.  HCMC also owns and operates Mt. Yonah Family Practice in Cleveland, located at 17 White Street.

HCMC offers many services including hearing and speech labs, a sleep disorder lab, outpatient services, a family-center maternity unit, occupational health, physical therapy, health screenings and risk assessments, cardiovascular rehabilitation, home health care, wellness programs, and a nursing home.

Chattooga Home Health Agency, Inc. also specializes in home care to maximize wellness and independence. Their skilled staff is adept at providing special care to facilitate improvement in the patient’s quality of life and freedom of movement. In addition, daily living needs are addressed through support personnel. Physical therapists assist patients recovering from illness or overcoming physical challenges. Finally, registered nurses provide doctor prescribed programs of infusion therapy in the home for patients requiring IV treatment without confinement to a hospital.

In addition, Chestatee Regional Hospital in Dahlonega helps round out the quality healthcare providers that serve White County.
